16 Horrific Torture Devices Of The Past That Are Thankfully Not Used Today

Torture is a horrifying practice. 

While society has become much more civilized in recent years. And rather than using these sorts of devices on people, we usually send them to prison for their crimes or painlessly end their life. However, this was true in the olden days. As people were much more bloodthirsty from what I can tell from these torture devices. Perhaps it was because of the many wars that people fought or perhaps the reason was something else.

I am not saying people still don’t use some sort of torture today. They do this to get what they want out of a person. But thankfully these devices are part of the past now. This is definitely a morbid subject but who isn’t fascinated with this sort of history. I know I am even if it does make me uncomfortable. A fair warning as this is not for the faint of heart so I wouldn’t recommend proceeding if you are not sure.

#1 Thic chair filled with spikes is definitely not going to be comfortable.

#2 This device is known as the breast ripper and I don’t think I need to explain anymore.

#3 A person was forced to sit on this Spanish Donkey and then weights were hanged on both sides till they got sliced in half.

#4 This contraption was placed underneath the person until they were basically impaled on the triangle.

#5 There was not way to get out of the sea with these cement shoes.

#6 A box filled with ravenous rats was placed on a persons stomach until the rats ate their way through the abdomen.

#7 A person was forced into a bull made of brass which has fire underneath it until they burned to a crisp.

#8 Tied on all sides and pulled from every direction until all that was let were pieces.

I am sure we have all seen a similar thing in western movies where people are tied to horses and they run in the opposite direction to stretch the person until there is no give left. Well, this is that but much worse. Most of the time, they also cut the person in half to really add insult to the injury. I can’t even imagine what sort of crimes these people committed because nobody deserves this sort of inhumane treatment.

#9 People used to saw a victim in half by hanging them from a rope.

#10 I think we all know about Crucifixion.

#11 People were locked in the iron maiden until they passed away from blood loss and injuries.

#12 Victims were whipped with this device which is known as Cat of 9 tails and just look at it hurts me.

#13 The Heretics Fork was placed on the nek and the person was hanged so they couldn’t rest their head on the ground thus forcing the stabbing pain on them.

#14 The Coffin is basically a way to end someones life by starvation.

#15 A Guillotine is a relatively painless end to someone’s life rather than torture.

#16 This is known as the Lead Sprinkler and it was filled with boiling hot water before beating the victim with it.
