It was funny enough that it is the 666th episode of The Simpsons, but the “Treehouse of Horror” episode will be launched this October, and it will incorporate Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water and Netflix’s “Stranger Things” in the episode. Now that is something seriously worth waiting for. We can’t wait to see which character will play who in the episode and how it will end up. But we are extremely excited to watch The Simpsons merge with our favourite genre.
However, we don’t really have to wait so long just to see The Simpsons’ characters playing as horror movie icons. That is where fan art comes in. The talented artist Peter Mahoney spent several months working on his project “Simpsons meets horror.” You will be seeing a lot of references from films like Nightmare on Elm Street, The Exorcist, Jaws, The Ring, and From Dusk Till Dawn.
The mashups are pretty creative as the characters are morphed into horror movie icons we never thought we could see them as. For example, Marge as Samara from The Ring, Homer disguised as Chief Brody and Moe as Gizmo. Scroll down below and enjoy the freaky fan art:
If Mahoney’s art still wasn’t enough for you, we have more illustrations of the Simpsons playing as other roles from the horror genre. Witch Crafts illustrated The Simpsons in their own alternative pop culture style, and we are here for it! Scroll down below if you haven’t had enough of these already:
