The Grudge – January 3rd, 2020

We started the year with the all-time-classic “The Grudge.” Initially, it was meant to be a reboot of the original The Grudge (2004), however, it ended up being a sidequel instead!

The Grudge 2020 showed events that took place during and after the events of the 2004’s original film. Don’t worry, we won’t spoil it for you by going into the details. But if you haven’t watched this already, you should!

Underwater – January 10th, 2020

Underwater staring Kristen Stewart finally played in theaters across the globe in January and and scored a 6.1 on IMDb. It was a much awaited movie as it was shot in 2017 and due to some conflicts it was delayed. The audience had a mixed reviews about the movie. PostTrack gave it a 2 out of 5 stars and CinemaScore gave it a grade “C” on the scale of A+ to F. Overall this alien underwater movie’s average rating is  5.17 on a scale of 10. 

The Turning – January 24th, 2020

The Turning screened in January 2020, directed by  Floria Sigismondi earend $18 million iternatioanlly. Released under the Univrsal Pictures the movie’s critics did not have appreciable reviews. The movie had an average rating of 3.7/10 according to IMDb. The movie is a modern makeover of the 1898 novella by Henry James called The Turn of the Screw. 

Although the movie does give us some scary vibes, it’s still not what we were expecting it to be. 

Fantasy Island – February 14th, 2020

Do we have any Fantasy Island 1997 fans here? Well, guess what folks? Your favorite TV series just got their own movie with an interesting twist. Fantasy Island 2020 is a horror prequel of the orginal 1977 series.

The plot revolves around some five individuals who find their way around an island and discover that their fantasies can come true. However, their inner most dreams are now a living nightmare for them which they must survive.

Though this film got mixed reviews, it was still a box-office success.

The Invisible Man – February 28th, 2020

About a woman who is haunted by the spirit of his abusive boyfriend, The Invisible Man 2020 is an international film co-produced by America and Austrailia.

Originally, it was a reboot of the 1930’s classic The Invisible Man series. Interestingly enough, the idea for its production started back in 2007. It was only after the failure of The Mummy 2017 that the studio decided to focus more on ‘individual story-telling’ projects which in turn revived the produciton of The Invisible Man.

A Quiet Place: Part II – March 20th, 2020

Its not easy running from demons who hunt you down by the sound of your movements. But we must do whatever it takes to survive! A Quiet Place II is an upcoming sequel of A Quiet Place (2018) both written and directed by John Krasinski.

While 2018 film got a 7.5 on IMDb, the hopes for this year’s sequel are even higher as Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou joined the cast.

Spiral – May 15th, 2020

Do you want to play a game? Well, of course you do! The ninth film of the Saw franchise: Spiral will be coming to the theatres this May. It is directed by Darren Lynn Bousman and will be starring Sameul L. Jackson as a police veteran.

The police veteran along with a detective investigate the pattern of their city’s unusual murders. However, their investigation ends up leading them into a worse situaiton.

Candyman – June 12th, 2020

Based on the story written by Clive Barker, The Candyman 2020 is the fourth movie of the franchise directed by Nia DaCosta and written by Jordan Peele.

The Candyman 2020 makes a return as the “spritual sequel” of the original 1992 film. With Todd stepping in the chicago neighborhood where everything began, the fans have high expectations.

The Purge 5 – July 10th, 2020

The Purge is back. It means you have another shot at doing whatever you want. Unfortunately, it might be your last shot. While talking to entertaiment weekly, the writer James DeMonaco suggested that it just might be the end of The Purge franchise.

While little is known for this upcoming movie and its future production, we will surely get to see it one more time this year in July!

The Conjuring 3 – September 11th, 2020

Directed by Michael Chaves, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It or just The Conjuring 3, is a sequel to The Conjuring 2013 and will be the overall eight addition to the franchise.

While the plot is primarily the same, this time around the paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren will try to unmask the reality behind a murderer’s claim of demonic possession.

Last Night in Soho – September 25th, 2020

Starring Thomasin McKenzie and Anya Taylor-Joy, Last Night In Soho is  directed by Edgar Wright (the same director who directed the horror-comedy Shaun of the Dead). But make no mistakes! Last Night In Soho is a psychological Horror about a girl who goes back in time.

While little is known about the film, it is a time-travel horror film full of dark and mysterious twists which sounds too good to be true!

Halloween Kills – October 16th, 2020

Ah yes, how can one forget the infamous Michael Myers? That too, when Halloween is just around the corner. Halloween Kills is reportedly the twelveth film of the franchise directed by David Gordan Green.

Once again Myers returns to settle the score in Halloween Kills. However, another sequel will be coming out in 2021. So, clearly this won’t be the last of Michael Myers. Jamie Lee Curtis and Nick Castle will be taking their iconic roles as Laurie Strude and Michael Myers.

Army of the Dead (Date to be announced, 2020)

Talk about taking complete advantage of chaos. Army of the dead is about a group of mercenaries who plan a robbery at the Las Vegas Casino during a zombie outbreak.

The film is directed by Zack Synder and will be starring Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Ana de la and more. Though the film was originally meant to be sequel to Dawn of the Dead, but later when Netflix acquired the rights to the project the production was halted and now finally we will get the much awaited release soon!
